He founded Bank of New York and Bank of New York Mellon. Hamilton graduated from Columbia University. He was married to Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton. He was the father of James and William. He had occupations including army officer, financier, economist and politician. He died in New York City on July 12th 1804 aged 49 years, 5 months and 25 days old. The cause of his death was shooting.
